It starting to feel like last year‼️
After a prolonged wait, it appears that New Orleans Pelicans' star forward Zion Williamson has to be out for some time yet. Since January 2, Zion had been heading towards three-on-three action&seemed close to coming back. Nonetheless, he aggravated his hamstring&will miss multiple weeks even beyond the All-Star break.
The Pelicans have really been hitting the skids in Zion's absence, losing their last 10 games&14 of the previous 20. This has plunged them from a Western Conference heavyweight to 7th place in the standings at 29-28 - highlighting the hopes fans are pinning on Zion's return to court. It was while he was at the peak of his form that he got his second All-Star nod before getting injured to begin with.
Naturally, it is an upsetting situation&Zion is feeling its weight keenly. Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin explains: 'It's fair to say not terribly well because he was so meticulous with rehab; unfortunately this injury carries a high risk of recurrence &there's naught he did incorrectly for it to happen - despite being really careful in the process.'
Comprehending the news of Zion Williamson's setback will be bitter for Pelicans fans but they can take some relief from knowing that he was so thorough with rehabilitation efforts and looked close to making a comeback prior to being hit again by injury. We can only hope that his reappearance on court will come soon&that his performance can help propel the team back up.
